My grandmama has been gone for a couple months now but I know she still checks up on me from time to time.

For example, I was driving home from my girl’s campus on Sunday morning and this older woman was in the passenger seat of the car behind me. The sunglasses she had on exactly matched my grandmother’s and she had the short whitish-blonde thinning hair… It definitely made me double take, I smiled to myself and thought about how our legacy will always live on in other people.

Then today, out of the blue in my differential equations class, I think about how my mom mom is doing and if she is in heaven with my grandfather. But I was in class and got back to paying attention. She was probably curious and checking on how my 19 credit semester is going…

On a side note, my semester is going great, mom mom. 19 credits suck especially when three are one credit labs… But I haven’t missed a class yet and I have great grades thus far… Only one non-A!!! I’m sure you know by now, but I got my internship with BP and im heading down to Houston just like i said i would. All my hard work last semester paid off and ironically my interview was the wednesday after your service… So thank you, I know you helped out. They’ve taken me out to dinner three times already and I know I’ve made some great connections. Love you, mom mom.

And then there was today again, I was driving back from the grocery store when I was flooded with tears of joy. I was so happy I had such a great person in my life that cared and loved me as much as she had. She made me a part of who I am today and without her I would be worse off a person. I will always hold those fantastic memories from the past 20 years.

I love you mom mom, your legacy lives on through me…

Your grandson,

Matt

P.S. Ashton gets baptized on sunday!
